If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we love Ethical Space—a leading practice in Indigenous engagement, and the foundation of our curriculum at the Indigenous Engagement Institute (IEI).
But what is Ethical Space, anyway?
Ethical Space is an Indigenous-informed framework for dialogue that brings Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners into culturally-informed processes for coming to agreement. Ethical Space creates an obligation in each party to bring forward what’s important to be understood, in a way that can be understood by the other. This basis of deep understanding enables creative and generative new ideas to emerge.
To learn more about Ethical Space, Voices of Understanding by The Alberta Energy Regulator with Reg Crowshoe is a great read.
